Renewal — the act of refreshing oneself following a moment of interruption.
Similar to the way the earth replenishes itself in the spring after the winter season. Within the summer, as I find myself without school, I typically take the time to renew myself during this break. To put it plainly, the extra free time can either be beneficial or wasted. Time-wasters can include excessive screen time, bed-rotting, overeating, etc.
Habits such as these are often easier to develop during summer, when there’s no set routine to participate in. In order to prevent this, I ensure I have a loosely scheduled summer break. This lets me have a balance of free time and activities that will renew me. Activities that I find help with renewal are finally getting to that summer reading list, drawing/painting, or spending time in nature on a walk. These activities allow ample time for me to rest, think, and reset so I can return to my school routine with the energy required to do my best.
