Upon completing an assessment, our psychologists will provide comprehensive feedback including a diagnosis (if applicable), recommendations for treatment, accommodations, and strategies
to manage or overcome the mental health conditions.
Assessments
Available for children, teens, and adults. See below for more information.
Intellectually advanced assessments and academic evaluations can help determine whether your child would benefit from a gifted education program. Using a variety of tools, such as the Weschler Intelligence Test Fifth Edition (WISV V), our therapists can measure your child’s cognitive abilities to determine their emotional, mental and academic needs. Upon completion, you will be given a comprehensive report and recommendations so that you can make an informed, beneficial decision for your child.
Assessments for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) can help you recognize which symptoms you may be experiencing, such as poor time management. We will then work with you to understand how these symptoms impact you, recommend a treatment plan based on your lifestyle needs, and teach you ways to effectively manage your ADHD/ADD so that you can attain peak performance in your everyday life.
Psycho-educational assessments can uncover possible learning difficulties, including:
Learning Disabilities
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Other disorders including Autism Spectrum Disorder
These assessments can indicate barriers to success in your studies or career, such as learning disabilities or academic micro-skills deficits. Tools such as the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test Third Edition (WIAT-III), for example, are helpful to assess an individual's achievement skills and problem-solving abilities.
We may also measure your behavioural and social-emotional functioning to gain a comprehensive understanding of your overall development.
Diagnosis of developmental disorders commonly involves understanding how components combine from:
Psycho-educational assessments
Behavioural assessments
Academic assessments
Your therapist will use these assessments, in addition to other tools, to diagnose a specific disorder.
Mental health assessments are a useful tool in providing a comprehensive overview of your mental health. Your therapist will use this assessment, as well as a variety of other tools, to identify your symptoms, their level of severity, and any disorders that need further treatment.
A functional capacity assessment is used to recognize degrees of difficulty in:
Social interaction;
Communication;
And/or executive functioning
This assessment helps to create an understanding of the hardships you are experiencing in these areas, and how they could be affecting your career sustainability and success.
A personality assessment, available for all ages, is a measure of traits and characteristics that make up your unique personality. Tools such as a clinical personality test helps to gather information and explore and identify mental health issues and disorders that may be related to certain personality traits.
Behavioural assessments help identify cognitive or communicative disabilities to help you understand what might be contributing to any behavioural challenges. Your therapist will evaluate behavioural functioning in areas such as adaptive behaviour, anger, anxiety/stress, depression, and attention/ADHD/ADD.
This assessment identifies the presence and severity of addictive behaviours or substance abuse issues, as well as any underlying emotional or psychological factors that may contribute to these behaviours. Additionally, our psychologists will gather information about an individual's patterns of substance use, compulsive behaviours, and the impact of these behaviours on their daily life, relationships, and overall well-being.
Motor vehicle accidents can greatly affect your psychological and emotional well-being. This assessment helps identify symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, depression, or other emotional difficulties that may have been caused by the accident.
The results can help guide appropriate treatment plans, support insurance claims, and inform any potential legal proceedings related to the accident.
Finding a suitable, fulfilling career can be difficult. A career/occupational assessment is a great tool for both individuals and employers. A series of tests, this can help uncover your personal attributes around career aptitude, personal work patterns and style, and suitable career choices to help guide you towards finding meaningful work.
For employers, this assessment can help increase employee retention, make strategic hiring decisions based on test criteria, and improve overall customer satisfaction.
