Let Go

There is a girl
next to me
who’s sinking.
I sit on a dock as she drowns
bubbles emitting from the
dark depths.
She is drowning in guilt.
Shame.
Another on the other side of the world
is the only one who remembers
aside from her.
Both have pain,
both are so, so sorry,
but one is the victim and one isn’t.
We don’t care for the bully. After all
one is scarred and the other not.
But aren’t they both?
Society has deemed the word
evil
to a struggler.
And she can’t swim because of it.
Because of the weight of the past she won’t drop
And the weight of the hurt she caused
she now drowns.
I know.
I know.
she’ll never swim
if she doesn’t let go.
Please.
Let Go.
