I Want

I want the love.
I want the ring.
I want to gaze at my finger,
With a sense of pride and security.
I want the diamond,
I want the effort,
I want to hear the poems written for me.
I want the text messages.
I want the phone calls,
I want the late night FaceTimes,
As we glance above at the frosty sky,
The navy ink spilling into the horizon,
Millions of stars waltzing and shimmering.
I want the dates,
I want the memories,
I want the non-judgemental love.
I want the eye contact,
The kind that lasts for lifetimes.
I want the special songs,
I want lyrics that remind you of me.
I want someone to care about my soul.
I want someone to care that I’m still trying,
I want someone to care that I’m still trying,
I need someone to care that I’m still trying.
I need someone to love this broken part,
The part that gleams like cracked glass.
I want the unconditional love.
I want to be the princess,
I want the fairytale prince,
I want the famous happily ever after.
I want the crown,
I want the ivory white gown,
I want the house,
I want the kids,
I want the family,
I want the unending bliss.
I just want the unbreakable love.
The eternal passion.
Is that so unrealistic?
