Rule of Life by Temilayo A.

A rule of life I’m setting for myself is to love; love God, others, and myself. I chose this primarily because of 1 Corinthians 13:13. *“So these three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the best one of these is love.”* Based on this verse, becoming more loving will allow me to be more like Jesus, and do what Jesus did.
To start off, I can practice being more loving through abiding in Jesus. This can be achieved through daily devotions, weekly prayer sessions for the Holy Spirit to work on my heart, or taking time out of my day to show gratitude for what I have. Additionally, to work on my mind I can place a daily limit on my phone to minimize distractions or read 1 Christian book monthly in order to get a new perspective.
Next, in order to become more like Jesus I need to take care of my body, relationships, and take breaks. In order to tend to these areas of life, I can take of my body via daily walks, going to the gym, or eating healthier. This allows me to be energized and make the most of life so I can pursue the mission God has given me.
In terms of relationships, I can add daily prayers for my friends, attend my youth group weekly, and plan monthly hangouts with my family.
Thirdly, I can make sure I actually use Sunday as a Sabbath day and rest. I have a tendency to use Sunday as a catchup day for school, but it often results in burnout. This isn’t ideal and if I want to become more loving, I need to start by loving myself and ensuring I take care of myself accordingly.
In conclusion, should I adhere to my rule I will begin to see the effects and it will allow me to not only grow in faith, but to grow in love.
